“Dialog is the practical art of gradual verbal discovery that allows relevance to guide people into meaning”.
I tried to come up with one sentence that articulates the connection from conversation through alignment to discovery to possibly conclusion. This illustrates a (somewhat vague) connection between social media, analytics and business intelligence.
Social Media Analytics is a set of methods and tools to measure ongoing interactions online which are simultaneous conversations (and monologues and random independent outbursts) and try to make sense of it all; for the purposes of achieving (hopefully specific) business goals. Scalability of breadth, depth, scope and signal vs. noise are the key challenges.
